How many floors are at the new hospital?
There are 7 floors at the new MTMC. The fourth through seventh floor are identical and same-handed patient rooms, meaning they are identical rather than traditionally mirrored rooms. This allows the room's layout to become intuitive to caregivers, eliminating time-waste and confusion.
How much did the new hospital cost?
The project was $267 million. In addition to the hospital facility, the DePaul Medical Office Building is on the site. The hospital will have 286-beds with shelled space for additional beds as the community grows.
What will happen to the current hospital?
MTMC has put together an Advisory Council to ensure that the community's best interests are served after the medical center moves its operations to 1700 Medical Center Parkway. The board is comprised of community and business leaders from Rutherford County.
Why did the hospital need to move to a new location?
Two primary reasons: accessibility and no room to grow. The New MTMC provids ample room for growth and easy access for our patients from throughout the region with direct interstate access via Medical Center Parkway exit on I-24.
The new hospital's campus at 68.5 acres is twice than MTMC's current campus where the hospital was established in 1927.
The frame for the hospital consists of 4,000 steel beams and 10 elevated deck pours have been completed to date.
1,881 tons have been erected to date, 859 tons remaining.
Construction requires 2.8 million man-hours. One person working 40 hours a week would take 1,346 years.
30,955 truck loads of soil and rock fill the site, enough to cover a football field 210 feet deep.
The 2.3 million square feet of drywall is enough to build 250 houses.
You could stretch the total linear feet of electrical wiring from Murfreesboro to Houston, TX. That's 738 miles!
Beautiful landscaping will be graced with more than 9,000 trees and shrubs!
